Chief Engineer (product design) - ideally based in Central Scotland – US multinational electronic sensing products manufacturer – attractive base and benefits CLIENT– World leader in electronic switch and sensor design/manufacturing, with revenues around $1B and 6,000 employees globally - and approx 450 product/design engineering staff - and an unrivalled mix of technically advanced sensing and switching solutions. ROLE - Chief Engineer (product design) - reporting to Chief Technical Officer of this $1B business unit, and responsible, as a single contributor advisor/assistant to CTO, to:- Orchestrate technology transfer, working with technology providers internally and externally Provide technology due-diligence on potential acquisition "Sell" client's technology and technical capability to key accounts, industry forums, etc. Make these presentations on behalf of CTO, or at least help prepare them Perform an objective audit on new product development programs/platforms - to provide technical guidance, as well as reducing future risk Intellectual Property - act as client's custodian of technology IP PERSON SPEC - higher weighting more important 10 - Previous product design/technology experience within electronic switch and sensor products sector - Essential 10 - Good understanding and experience of full NPD/NPI processes 10 - Comfortable in a senior single contributor role, with lots of accountability and ownership, but little direct people management 10 - A passion, energy, and an enthusiasm for sensor products technology - and a desire to keep at the forefront of design technology 10 - Qualifications - Physics or EE - Masters or PhD - additional MBA would be ideal 10 - Must expect 50-ish % travel - driven by customer and design teams' priorities 10 - Good communicator and listener - verbal, PC, face-to-face - and ideally experience of formal presentations 9 - Technologically creative - with some experience and skills in strategic customer innovation 9 - Experience of technology due-diligence, and ideally some experience of technology acquisitions 9 - Experience of managing technology IP 9 - Positive customer attitude - listen, solutions, commit, deliver For more information, please contact David Urquhart on 07870 596117 or email david@solutions-driven.com Back to Main Job page Ref: SENS-SD-004
