The SENSORLAND Newsletter - Issue 3 - September 2002
=======================================================
This is the third bi-monthly newsletter giving you some of the latest
news on products from the World of Sensors and Measurement
Systems.

NEW PRODUCT RELEASES
======================

1). Morten Moller at SENSOR-TECHNIK UK currently recommends
a new range of thin-film technology pressure sensors which can handle
from -40 to 200C while using standard electronics to keep the price
more conventional. The Model A08 also features temperature correction
on the pressure capsule giving quick and reliable compensation.
There is no need for stand-off pipes, air/water cooling, or any extra
mechanical pipework. Two versions are available: the Option HT for
media temperatures of -40 to +125C and the Option XHT for media
temperatures of -40 to 200C. Pressure ranges cover 10 to 1000bar
with all the standard electrical outputs including 4-20mA, 0 to 10V,
1 to 6V etc. The pressure sensor can also as a option have at PT100
temperature sensor build into the pressure sensor housing giving
fast and direct media temperature measurement.

2). "SlimLine" is KISTLER'S response to the demand for
an improved, low-cost force sensor, which is both,
compact and robust enough to be fitted into any
machine or component structure.
SlimLine is a competitively priced piezoelectric force sensor, which
comes with an integral cable and offers such features as temperature
resistance up to 150 °C and environmental protection of IP65. The
typical measuring chain consists of an industrial charge amplifier
and sensor with cable. SlimLine force sensors are designed for
installation into production machines. They are also suited for product
testing and for force monitoring in automated plants.

3). Sensor specialist RDP ELECTRONICS LTD. is showing a
wide range of its products at Instrumentation Scotland on 4-5th
September (at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre).
Included will be examples of recent developments in displacement
transducers for harsh environments, fieldbus compatible digital
transducers, and the growing range of single and three-dimensional
bend sensors.
Well respected for their LVDT products, RDP is also very successful
in signal conditioning, MTS magnetostrictive position sensing, and
the new Sensotec module pressure transducer range which offers
fast response customisation.

4). SCENSYS has announced the introduction of lOtech's
eZ-Analyst software for its portable, multi-function WaveBook
series of data acquisition products.
The availability of this software enables WaveBook users to record,
playback, analyse and archive vibration or acoustic data in both time
and frequency domain. Compared to other multi-channel vibration
analysers, the WaveBook/eZ-Analyst combination offers higher
channel capacity, more signal conditioning choices and a lower
cost per channel.
eZ-Analyst utilizes a Windows - style graphical user interface which
makes hardware configuration easy with simple fill-in-the-blank
configuration screens. Selectable hardware parameters include
channel selection, frequency and voltage range, auto ranging,
filtering and triggering. Configurations can be saved and recalled
for future use.

5). CITEL'S new TSP10 Pipefitting surge suppressor is
specifically designed to protect sensitive process
transmitters against lightning surges and electrical
transients.
Principal use is for 4-20 mA current loops, signal lines and low speed
data lines feeding transducers, flow meters, water level monitors,
control circuits and variety of similar field sensor, signal and OEM
applications.
It has a high discharge current capacity of 10 kA (8/20ms waveform)
and resets automatically after every surge. It is maintenance free.

6).EDINBURGH SENSORS (UK) have recently released
the new AirCheck II series of low cost carbon dioxide
sensors.
The sensor is smaller, easier to install and at a lower cost than
the original AirCheck model, provides a low cost solution to
indoor air quality monitoring.
Based on established infra red technology, the sensor is accurate
and stable with low drift. The new enclosure can be easily installed
by the end user with the gas sensor simply clicking into place,
reducing the time and cost required for its installation.

7). New from SENSONICS LTD. is VibroWeb, a 16 channel
condition monitor designed to operate online for monitoring sensors
measuring vibration, pressure and temperature on plant machinery
in remote areas.
VibroWeb saves valuable time for maintenance engineers by eliminating
time consuming manual data collection. Once it is setup on a PC or
laptop to configure and monitor the sensor signals, it runs a 16 point
patrol in just 15 minutes on a continuous and error free basis.
Built-in alert, trip and system integrity alarms are included in the unit
with the status of the preset levels being viewed on screen or alerted
by e-mail or SMS text messaging. Each reading has two configurable
alarms to alert of problems and to warn of dangerous level conditions.
