ENDEVCO
Working with National Instruments to Lead
Development of Open Standards with "Plug and Play"
Sensors
Program.
Endevco today announced a collaborative initiative with National
Instruments to promote widespread adoption of IEEE P1451.4.
The Plug & Play Sensors Program aims to create an open sensors
standard, giving systems integrators and end users the ability
to
automatically configure measurement and automation systems for
sensors. Systems integrators and end users will be able to simplify
sensor set-up, use, and maintenance; automatically obtain calibration
data; and eliminate manual data entry and error.
IEEE P1451.4 proposes that sensors include an embedded, low-cost
memory chip containing standardized transducer electronic data
sheets
(TEDS). TEDS store important sensor information and parameters
for
self-identification and self-description, eliminating the need
to manually
input this data when configuring a system. NI has made a TEDS
library
for LabVIEW(tm) available free and downloadable from its web
site.

2). INERTIAL AEROSYSTEMS
have introduced a new six axes,
low cost strap down inertial measurement unit that contains three
rate gyros and three linear accelerometers.
Designated MIPS33AA, it is designed for monitoring full motion
measurement of land vehicles, aeroplanes, ships, boats and
underwater craft etc. Optional motion recovery analysis software
allows operation as an attitude and heading reference system
(AHRS). Data acquisition on 16 channels can be provided either
internally or by an external module.
This innovative product is ideal for full motion sensing applications
that require low power and high performance whilst incorporating
full six degrees of freedom.

3). GE DRUCK,
leading manufacturer of the industry standard
DPI 600 series of portable pressure calibrators for over 20 years,

5). SCENSYS LTD.
have expanded and introduced an exciting and
extensive new range of products on offer to the data acquisition
field.
We have incorporated two very important product lines which
compliment our existing range of PC board level products.
These new lines give Scensys Ltd the most comprehensive selection
of data acquisition boards and signal conditioning options available.

United Electronic Industries (UEI) whose boards are widely

6). tecsis GmbH
- Low Cost Press-Process Monitoring Systems.
Monitoring
The press force is recorded together with the process-time.
If the force does not reach a predefined level after a certain
time the process is marked not OK and the part is rejected.
More sophisticated versions of press controls are able to read
other sensors (e.g. distance or angle) to make sure the process
completed with no reasons of objection.
Legislation on the subject of liability and warranty and the
ISO9000:2000 demand complete quality assurance and
focus more than before on the production process itself.
Additional value
In addition to the process monitoring these systems are used
for process analysis. The evaluation of the measured data is
giving valuable information on the process-reliability and makes
it easy to define service cycles of the manufacturing machines/tools.
