A presentation from Adaptive Wireless Solutions shows how wireless sensor networks can help improve oven efficiency.
At a recent meeting of the Food Processing Knowledge Transfer Network ( ovens special interest group) the assembled delegates discussed how to improve data gathering about energy used in baking processes from equipment which has often been in service for many years and was built during a time when control systems were very basic. The prospects for wireless sensor networks were discussed as they hold out the potential to retrofit solutions to existing equipment without incurring the costs involved in hard wired solutions. A wireless solution also allows the possibility of adding or modifying monitoring points easily in order to get a better understanding of the baking process.
