 Precision Hall-effect Switch ICs
The new A3361 and A3362 from Allegro MicroSystems are extremely temperature-stable and stress-resistant two-wire Hall-effect sensor ICs which switch in response to a changing magnetic field. The ruggedness and high-temperature performance of the devices makes them ideally suited to switching applications in the most demanding automotive and industrial applications. The superior performance over temperature is made possible through a proprietary dynamic offset cancellation technique based on chopper stabilization. This reduces the residual offset voltage normally caused by device overmoulding, temperature dependencies, and thermal stress. The two devices differ only in output polarity; the A3361 output current goes low in the presence of a south pole of sufficient strength, while the A3362 output current goes high. Each device includes, on a single silicon chip, a voltage regulator, Hall-voltage generator, small-signal amplifier, chopper stabilisation circuitry, Schmitt trigger, and a constant-current open-collector output. An on-board regulator permits operation with unregulated supplies at voltages from 3.5 to 24 V. Noise radiation is limited by control of the output current slew rate. Three package styles are available to provide a magnetically optimised package for most applications: a miniature low-profile surface-mount package; a miniature SOT-89/TO-243AA transistor-style package for surface-mount applications; and a three-lead ultra-miniature single-inline package for through-hole mounting.
