NEW PULSE 9.0 EXTENDS SOUND AND VIBRATION
TEST AND MEASUREMENT PERFORMANCE AND
FUNCTIONALITY
A combination of new hardware and software improvements
has extended the performance and functionality of Bruel &
Kjaers new PULSE 9.0 multi-analyser platform system for
sound and vibration test and measurement applications.
PULSE 9.0 major hardware enhancements include a Type 3560-B
Compact Frame with full generator output functionality and five input
channels. The generator supports all waveforms supported by Bruel
& Kjaers popular 3109 and 3110 generator module systems. New
controller modules (Type 7539 and Type 7539A) with full generator
functionality and five input channels have also been introduced.
New system software enhancements enable a faster launch of PULSE
applications by utilising dynamic redundancy checking features that
ensure unnecessary files and templates are not loaded.
A Tolerance Curves capability is ideal for electroacoustics customers
who need a benchmarking tool or basic audit testing solution. The
tolerance curves are easy to define numerically and graphically.
Multiple curves, such as Upper and Lower curves, can be readily
created. The tolerance curve graphs also change colours as the
measurements pass or fail.
A feature of the new software is a Discrete Tone Calculator utility
that is developed to simplify tonality testing, which is a major
requirement for disk drive, fan and motor manufacturers. Tones
are often perceived as unpleasant sounds, and can pose noise
emission problems for OEMs in the computer, machinery and
automotive sectors. The Discrete Tone Calculator is ideal for
any manufacturers working to ISO 7779 or ECMA 74 standards.
By simply dragging and dropping a function into Discrete Tone
Calculator utility the tones are located and the Tone-to-Noise
Ratio and Prominence Ratio are calculated.
Another new, user-friendly feature added to the PULSE software
is a Graphical Trigger Setup utility that helps to quickly set up
any signal trigger (excluding tachometers). Using a simple
Click and Drag method the trigger parameters can be set
up to take in live data to enable the actual trigger points on
a time waveform to be seen.
PULSE 9.0 supports up to 220 channels.
