Helping communities understand aircraft noise
Brüel & Kjær has launched a new feature rich website - WebTrak MyNeighborhood - which ties into local airport noise monitoring systems to provide communities with answers about long-term noise impact.
The website helps build an understanding of the real noise impact from airports, by using visual tools and metrics covering arrival/departure counts, runway usage, fleet mix, respite time and counts of significant aircraft noise. Charts, such as heat maps, offer a new way of presenting when aircraft are operating and supplementary noise metrics are a much easier way to explain noise impact.
Weve been really pleased with the success of WebTrak, which is now operational at over 50 airports. Now WebTrak MyNeighbourhood takes airport community noise engagement up another level. Weve spent a lot of time focusing on ease of use and presentation that communicates longer term noise impacts effectively, said Matthew Barry, Product Manager for Airports at Brüel & Kjær.
As the metrics are calculated from data in the airport noise monitoring system, it presents information the community can trust and believe.
WebTrak MyNeighbourhood works in conjunction with ANOMS airport noise monitoring system. It is delivered as a subscription based web service which operates automatically; requiring no day-to-day operation from the airport once set up.
