Farnell element14 has today announced it is the first distributor globally to distribute the HEAVYCON EVO product range from Phoenix Contact.

Available across Europe the HEAVYCON EVO plug-in connectors, made from high-performance plastic, meet virtually all the requirements of heavy-duty industrial plug-in connectors as well as protection class IP65 and shock resistance IK08. The unique HEAVYCON EVO gland locking system results in a reduction in the variety of housings and an inventory saving of 70% for the customer.

Plastic housings provide a 50 per cent reduction in weight when compared with metal equivalents. The product is halogen free and has an 80 per cent energy saving in its production.

With excellent mechanical properties and high resistance against environmental influences HEAVYCON EVO is compatible with all metal industrial plug-in connectors available on the market.

The range, which was launched at the Hannover Fair in April, is suitable for industrial, factory automation and robotics applications.

Steve Herd, Global Product Director, Connectors at Farnell element14, said: “The launch of HEAVYCON EVO reinforces Farnell element14’s first to market approach to new products and technologies. We are delighted to have launched this product as part of our Phoenix Contact range which makes it easier for our customers with a reduced inventory requirement as well as a reduction in weight and energy required to produce the product.”

Gary Nelson, Product manager, Device Connections, Phoenix Contacts, said: "The HEAVYCON Evo product range was launched at this year’s Hanover fair and offers distinct advantages to customers with its innovative design features and light weight construction. We wanted to ensure that customers had immediate access to the product from the moment it launched and by utilising Farnell element14's expertise in stock holding and supply capabilities we have been able to achieve this aim."
