IP68 Protection from New Series of Gefran
Absolute Linear Position Transducers.
Gefran presents a new series of Absolute Linear
Displacement Transducers specifically designed
for use under extremely severe environmental conditions.
These new Displacement Transducers, called PME and PMI,
are the result of constant analysis of market demands and of
GEFRAN's 20 years of experience in potentiometer technology,
thanks to which our products always provide maximum performance.
As opposed to traditional Displacement Transducers with IP65
protection level, this new series, designed typically for oil-pressure
cylinders, is completely sealed and guarantees an IP67 or IP68
protection level.
The new PME/PMI series exploits magnetic coupling between a
cursor outside and a cursor inside the transducer, creating a
single system called "magnetic tooth" that resists more than
20 G of acceleration.
Elimination of the actuator rod, plus a temperature range of -40°C
to +100°C and lack of signal conditioning electronics, mean
that these products can be used under severe conditions in
which other technologies, based on a greater price/performance
ratio, are excluded.
PME transducers are built of anodized aluminum, have a 12.7 mm
diameter, and guarantee resistance to pressures of 20 bar with
maximum cursor shift speed of 5 meters/second.
The second family, called PMI, has a structure built entirely of 316 L
stainless steel. Designed for position feedback of oil-pressure
cylinders with housing inside the piston, it resists up to 250 bar
and maintains the classic features of an absolute potentiometer.
The PMI transducer has been engineered to allow replacement
of the internal cartridge without having to disassemble the hydraulic
cylinder, thereby achieving significant savings in maintenance.
Standard electrical strokes range from 50 mm to 1000 mm in
50 mm increments, with a life of 100 million strokes or 25,000 Km
and a non-linearity error of 0.05%, the standard value for
potentiometric transducers built by GEFRAN.
