Torque calibration at HBM lab exceeds VDI 2646. HBM’s VDI 2646 calibration makes DKD calibrations so affordable that they can now be used in industrial applications with increased accuracy requirements. Application examples include test benches in the research and development of automotive engines and transmissions. HBM’s calibration laboratory at Darmstadt has become the first – and only – member of the German calibration service (DKD) to provide DKD torque calibrations in compliance with the latest VDI guideline 2646. Although, the work involved is more demanding, HBM is offering VDI 2646 calibration at the same price as a working standard calibration. The VDI 2646 norm refers to type-related statistical data rather than requiring complex comparison measurements taken in different mounting positions. In comparison to other calibration service providers, HBM’s DKD calibration laboratory is able to exceed requirements of VDI 2646 with additional quality characteristics. The calibration process, implementation, and statistical methods have been tested and approved by the DKD accreditation body. In common with all DKD calibrations, the measurement uncertainty of the calibrated torque transducer is determined and specified in addition to the calibration results. HBM’s VDI 2646 calibration is available for all current HBM torque transducers up to 25 kN·m and includes an OK/NOK evaluation to show whether the calibrated transducer meets relevant product specifications. Torque transducers that are used as reference standard or reference transducer are best calibrated using the traditional complex comparison measurements taken in different mounting positions.
