HBM’s digiCLIP measuring amplifiers gain certified DTM for efficient machine monitoring

HBM is now offering a certified Device Type Manager (DTM) for its digiCLIP measuring amplifier models enabling the use of FieldDevice Tool technology (FDT).

The DTM for HBM’s digiCLIP amplifier has been certified by the Conformance Office of the FDT Joint Interest Group and is included in the list of certified devices (www.fdtgroup.org/de/product-catalog/certified-dtms). Only devices that have proven capability for field applications and which meet the FDT standards are published on the list.

The digiCLIP amplifiers use carrier frequency measurement technology and are suited for reliably measuring parameters such as force, strain, torque and pressure in industrial automation applications without noise.

The Field Device Tool technology (FDT) ensures standardized parameterization of field devices from different manufacturers. It is a function and interface definition that simplifies engineering processes in automation technology. The Device Type Manager (DTM) is at the core of thistechnology and is made available by the manufacturers of field devices as astandardized driver.

Using DTM enables efficient system asset management – irrespective of manufacturer or field bus protocol. With FDT technology, measuring amplifiers can be centrally parameterized and administered together with other field devices. Current data can also be read out simultaneously and visualized in a higher order system.

HBM’s digiCLIP amplifier and the associated FDT technology has been introduced in a number of applications such as in the printing press industry. The DTM for the digiCLIP amplifier is supplied on CD with every module and can also be downloaded free of charge from www.hbm.com/en/menu/products/industrial-amplifiers.
