New low cost Digital Compass module.
Inertial Aerosystems announce the availability of a
new solid state, dual axis, low cost digital compass
module, ideal for OEM's in high volume applications.
Manufactured by Honeywell's Solid State Electronics Centre
and designated HMR3100, this small, rugged module, costing
less than £50 in volume, is designed for low cost applications
in vehicle compassing, hand held navigators, antenna and
telescope positioning and general navigation systems.
Honeywell's proven magnetoresistive technology gives a heading
accuracy of better than 5 degrees with a 0.5 degree resolution.
The compass measures less than 20mm square and is ideal
where space and weight are at a premium. Output is ASCII
(USART). An optional RS232 daughter board with PC software
acts as a development accessory.
In addition, a kit of 1-axis and 2-axis magnetic sensors and
2 single axis accelerometers form the building blocks of a tilt
compensated 3-axis compass.
