Melt Pressure Sensors take the pressure.
Kistler's melt pressure sensors types 4086/87A and 4096/97A
are designed for measuring pressure in the extrusion process,
providing an accurate, reliable and repeatable output.
Types 4086/87A give an output of 3.33 mV/V and types 4096/97A
give a 4-20mA or 0-10V output. Both models incorporate an internal
80 percent shunt calibration function and are available in ranges up to
1400bar.
Options include a thermocouple output, rigid stem or combination of
rigid and flexible stem. All feature a silicon sensing element located
directly behind a rugged diaphragm. This thick diaphragm makes it
possible for it to be cleaned with a bronze or copper wire brush and
to withstand abrasive materials.
The lack of any type of fill, such as mercury or oil, makes it safe to
use in any application including the extrusion of medical and
pharmaceutical products, food and food packaging.
