New generation Wheel Force Measurement System
The Kistler RoaDyn System 2000 automotive, static and
dynamic wheel force measurement and analysis system
uses the latest data processing and RF transmission
technology in a robust, modular design.
Suitable for all types of on road and laboratory test applications,
the RoaDyn System 2000 provides a precise method of wheel
force measurement for most types of wheeled vehicles from
passenger cars and SUVs to heavy goods vehicles, tractors
and construction equipment.
Integrated digital processing and RF telemetry transmission of
data from the force sensors in the moving wheel to the signal
conditioning module in the vehicle, eliminates the need for noisy,
difficult to set-up and maintain slip-ring transmission. A single,
compact stator, usually fitted within the vehicle wheel arch,
determines wheel rotation angle, provides inductive power for
the rotating electronics and receives the transmitted data. The
elimination of cables and complicated fixing arms on the outside
of the vehicle allows testing to be carried out safely on public roads.
The 6-component wheel force measuring system registers the
three forces and three moments acting on the wheel. This data
is then digitised by the in-built electronics eliminating errors
due to electrical/electronic interference, temperature variations
and transmission noise. Lightweight sensors and electronics
allow the RoaDyn wheel to have weight and inertia characteristics
little different from that of a standard wheel. Vehicle performance,
steering and braking are not affected ensuring that measuring
errors are not introduced during dynamic testing. Although
lightweight, RoaDyn measuring wheels are robust and operate
reliably in extreme conditions of dust and splash water. In addition
to the range of standard wheels covering most applications, the
sensors and electronics can be built into wheels of any size and
The easy to use RoaDyn System 2000 Windows based user
interface, run on a laptop PC, allows data to be checked, analysed
and stored for future use. In addition, data interfaces are available
for all standard data acquisition systems.
