Lion Precision receives Governors International Trade Award.Lion Precision was honored with the Governors International Trade Award during the Governors Global Trade Conference in Minneapolis, Minn. The award is given to Minnesota companies that demonstrate substantial and growing international business while maintaining or increasing employment levels.
The award was presented to Lion Precision president Don Martin by First Lady of Minnesota, Mary Pawlenty during the World Trade Week Luncheon.In 2007 Lion Precision sold nearly 60% of its products to international customers, a three point increase since 2005. During this same period of time, the company has grown from 24 employees to 32, a 33% increase. Exports of the companies high-performance sensors and measurement systems are in use in many parts of Asia, Eastern and Western Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and North and South America.
Lion Precision manufactures noncontact sensing and measurement equipment used in the disk-drive, semiconductor, aerospace, machining, manufacturing, and packaging industries as well as research universities and institutions. The company was started in 1958 by MIT professor Dr. Kurt Lion and was purchased and moved to Minnesota in 1986.
