PCB Piezotronics announces New Dual Bridge Strain Gauge Load Cells

Moment Compensation for Aircraft Structural, Lifetime and Fatigue Testing

PCB Piezotronics, Inc., a global supplier and manufacturer of vibration, acoustic, force, torque, load, strain and pressure sensors, has announced the launch of a new product line of strain gauge, dual bridge load cells. The fatigue rated load cells are specifically designed for airframe structural, lifetime and fatigue testing applications on wings, fuselage, iron bird and landing gear.

PCB® Dual Bridge Load Cells, Series 1400, include a dual output to provide sensor redundancy and the ability to provide control feedback from one bridge while the other is used for data acquisition. The new load cells are available in multiple ranges and have A2LA accredited calibration to ISO 17025 in both tension and compression modes.

Moment compensation helps to maintain accurate output from the sensor in the presence of eccentric loading and side loads often experienced during highly repetitive load test cycles. A single shunt calibration resistor is provided with each load cell for ease of calibration at the test site.

The dual bridge load cells are available with standard capacities ranging from 22 kN to 445 kN (5000 lb to 100,000 lb) with combined accuracies from < 0.04% to < 0.06%, using the best fit least squared method linearity, hysteresis and non-repeatability.

Many other dual bridge load cell ranges are available and guaranteed for 100 million fully-reversed cycles. Other load cells available include low profile, rod end and S-beams for applications such as weighing, material testing, press monitoring, process automation, rocket thrust, component testing and flight control durability.
