Controlling the ambient humidity with a hygrometer
In many areas, humidity must not be neglected. The problem with mould in houses is not only an aesthetic one but also a health problem. Mould formation usually has a logical reason and normally occurs when two factors meet.
Factor one is a poorly insulated building structure which causes too much humidity in the room, especially during the wet and cold season. The second factor is a lack of ventilation. If you do not ventilate your home in order to exchange humid air - arising from showering, cooking or just coming from the human body - by fresh air is at risk of bringing forward mould formation. Mould develops in the coldest areas of an apartment or house.
The fine mould spores get into the air and are absorbed by humans via the skin and respiratory tract. Diseases are a frequent consequence.
Some of the symptoms of excess humidity are misty windows and mirrors, musty smell or used bath towels that do not dry any more. The most accurate way to detect excessive humidity is using a hygrometer. These allow measuring the relative humidity in the air accurately and conveniently. Mould formation can be prevented with the help of the recorded data.
In manufacturing, lots of procedures are also dependent on a certain ambient humidity. For example, contact bonding carried out under poor air conditions can loosen later and cause customer complaints. This can be avoided by measuring the humidity with a hygrometer and making sure the air conditions are suitable for the bonding work.
